I know, I know. FINALLY, right?? Here are some photos from my time in Beijing earlier this semester. A lot are missing because they probably include faces of people from whom I have not received permission to post their faces on the World Wide Web. I should get on that.
My face at the Summer Palace’s Suzhou Street. Allegedly, the Empress enjoyed walking the recreated streets and haggling with the shop girls (which probably terrified them by doing so).
Here’s where I went: Forbidden City, Summer Palace, local hutongs (neighborhoods), Olympic Nest, Great Wall…all the touristy places. And you know what? THEY WERE GREAT.
Get Your Photo Taken With the Foreigner! is a very popular thing here.
The Cube–built for the 2008 Olympics. Right across the street from the Nest.
BEIBEI. EEEEE. They’re adorable here. I’m serious.
Our tour guide’s signature: a monkey.
Favorite thing at the Summer Palace: water calligraphy. The best.
Traditional View Hotel within a local hutong.
A door. You’ll see a lot of these (pictures).
Your FC,WL blogger! Full frontal.
Smoggy, you said? No such thing as blue skies, you said?
Convinced that the concept of “smog” was a myth made up to keep people from discovering how devastatingly beautiful it is here.
On our way to lunch at a local’s place.
I’m not nearly competent enough to know how to add water marks, so if your fingers are inching towards Ctr+C please ask first! Thanks, lovelies.
Next up: Xi’an!
